Websites beyond WordPress: new or migrated.
I've spent about 15 years working mostly in WordPress and I still recommend it to many clients. But it isn't always the best fit. I build new sites in Astro, Laravel or Next.js, and move existing WordPress sites to another technology without losing what they've earned in Google.
01 · Two paths
A new site in another technology, or yours taken out of WordPress.
A new website
For projects that don't fit well in a content management system: applications, directories, tools or very fast sites that rarely change. I choose the technology for the project, not because it's trendy.
Examples of mine: DJ Trainr (React), Cotreball (custom PHP), PulseWeb (Next.js) and Festarama (Laravel).
Leaving WordPress
For sites already on WordPress that are small and don't change much. I usually move them to Astro, with an editor if you publish often.
That's what I did with Paraíso Ciclista: from WordPress to Astro and Sanity.
02 · What a migration includes
What needs care so you don't lose Google.
- An inventory of every URL on the current site.
- Moving the content to the new site.
- Redirects one by one, from each old URL to the new one.
- Titles, descriptions and structured data reviewed.
- Speed measured before and after.
- An editor so you can publish yourself, only if you need it.
- Going live on your hosting, in your name.
03 · Before you decide
You don't always need to change technology.
Sometimes what your site needs is fixing what you have, not rebuilding it in something else. I'll look at it with you and tell you honestly what suits you, even if that means staying on WordPress.
If so, take a look at web optimization or WordPress maintenance.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost?
It depends a lot on the project, so there's no "from" price here. I'll send you a fixed quote once I know what you need.
Will I lose Google rankings when migrating?
It's the main risk. That's why every old URL is redirected to the new one and I review titles, descriptions and structured data before going live. Nobody can guarantee rankings, but this way nothing is lost through carelessness.
Will I be able to change the text myself?
Yes, if you need to: I set up an editor, Sanity or WordPress used only as an editor. Changes to structure or design do require coding.
Who provides the hosting?
You do, in your name. I'll advise you on which one suits the site.
What about maintenance?
My maintenance plans are for WordPress sites. If you need changes later on a site built with another technology, write to me and we'll look at it.
Thinking about leaving WordPress or building your site in another technology?
Tell me what you have and what you need. If WordPress still suits you, I'll tell you that too.
